Professional Certificate of Competency in Earthing and Lightning Protection

The course mainly focuses on Earthing, Bonding, Lightning, and Surge Protection. Initially, the objectives address the basic principles and importance of earthing, how earthing is tested and earthed, various types of earthing systems in depth, then lightning and surge protection.

Topics Covered:

  • fundamentals of earthing and lightning protection
  • basic principles and importance of earthing
  • how to test/earth certain equipment
  • different types of earthing system in depth

Course Benefits:

  • Receive a Certificate of Completion
  • Experience world-class faculty and industry experts.
  • Attend anytime, anywhere, even when working full-time.
  • Learn about the latest updates/announcements during the webinars and interact with industry experts.
  • Take part in a global learning environment with students of different backgrounds and experiences, which is a great opportunity for networking.
  • Gain fundamental knowledge of Earthing, Bonding, Lightning, and Surge Protection.
  • Learn about earthing, the types and components of surge protection systems.
  • Get the latest information on lightning protection and earthing standards.
  • Discover the best practices for earthing to mitigate the effects of faults and lightning.

Initially, earthing is defined and basic earthing needs are reviewed, followed by basic earthing principles. In order to gain a deeper understanding of earthing application, we will discuss the components of earthing systems and the types of earthing systems. We will also review substation earthing and UPS earthing.Lightning is introduced in the second part of the course. In it, you will learn about lightning effects that are critical to protect various components from lightning and its adverse effects, including Lightning safety, Lightning protection of structures, and Lightning protection of electrical lines and substations. Lightning will also be explained in conjunction with the topic Surge Protection, which entails protecting electrical lines from other sources of lightning, such as surges, transient voltages, electrical faults, and switching. We will also discuss Safety regulations, Standards and Maintenance of lightning protection systems at the end of the course.
